Tamang people in Jharlang. A local working on his corn harvest. He is partially blind and deaf, yet he sits here daily preparing his harvest for the week.
In the high, rugged hills of Nepal, you’ll often encounter the Tamang people, many of whom are subsistence farmers, their lives intrinsically woven into the soil and rhythm of the seasons. Their existence, often marked by hardship, is a testament to their deep resilience and spirit, as they cultivate the land that has sustained their families for generations.
Despite the challenges, their rich culture, vibrant traditions, and the ancient echoes of Tibetan Buddhism continue to define their profound connection to the Himalayan landscape.
