A Prayer With Rohingya Children in Langkawi

A prayer can mean a lot within the lessons of life, it either brings a community together or teaches us a sense of self discipline. It’s also another form of meditation, being self aware and present with our current space.

I asked the religious teacher if the children understood what they were reciting, or were they just parroting what they hear. At this age they are still just parroting and practicing what they hear. They still can’t understand what each verse means or the true meaning of the verse.

As with any language that we speak, the words we utter during conversations, do we listen to understand the true meaning of these words or do we just make our own assumptions?
