Lights from 6-9pm at Fisherman Island in Butacal

IMG_1173

On 13th March 2014, we visited a fisherman’s island village called Blas, Butacal in Panay, Philippines which was also destroyed by the super typhoon. It wasn’t easy seeing how people here still live on after the Haiyan typhoon but they are doing it.

Using the broken parts of the old houses to build new, keeping their children fed by fishing and living with no electricity. A generator is available from 6-9pm but for 60 pesos per family. Those with no income for the day, stay in the dark with kerosene lamps and torch lights.

Many live without proper homes, no solid roof, no bathrooms, no medication or the basic needs to live. Food, water, and lights. We then met a little girl who is diagnosed with hole in her heart, but the dad is just a fisherman so he can’t really do much for her treatment.

They have 98 families here and we plan to also donate the solar lights to these families. We would need 200 solar light here too. Please help us make this happen.
