This is a sad truth but it’s what life is for some families here in Tasik Chini, Kuantan. I met with this family living outside in a temporary tent nearby their home which is flooded till the roof top.
“How long have you been staying here?”
“I don’t know, I stop counting the days, but it’s been since the floods.”
“How are you coping with it?”
“What can I do, we just have to wait, thank god we have food donated to us.”
“How many in your family?”
“These are my two grandchildren, they are twins and with their mother.”
“How about the father?”
“He is not around anymore, he left my daughter long ago, even since the twins were born.
“He doesn’t come and visit?”
“No he doesn’t, not even once, my daughter has to work in the city to earn an income now, it’s hard for us. I been raising them with my own hands since they were babies. I’m just worried as they are both sick now.”
