Have you been to a free health clinic? Most of us living in Malaysia received public education and medical care, it’s just something we always had, we have free and affordable access to schools, universities, clinics and hospitals.
When the kids are sick, when a mother needs a check up, when a women is pregnant or when we need emergency medical attention.
Unfortunately it’s not the same for refugee communities in Malaysia. They don’t have easy access to this basic rights of a human, some simply can’t afford it, some are afraid of going to a clinic or hospital due to fears of being prosecuted or arrested.
So medical care doesn’t come easy for them, mainly the Rohingya people who had to leave their homes, cross dangerous waters and live as refugees here today.
A few days ago, Malaysian Red Crescent, had organised a free health clinic here at our Children Of Rohingya learning centre, also a refugee community hub in Langkawi.
The joy in their eyes, the curious looks of seeing something different for the first time, all the questions of their health and personal issues. Felt like finally someone is noticing them here and giving these humans a little more hope.
Thankful to Malaysian Red Crescent for their support and contributions.
Support the Children Of Rohingya Learning Centre in Langkawi! The new learning centre is located in local town called Air Hangat, Langkawi Island. A community hall that we are renting from the local mosque. It’s not just about providing a new learning centre with just basic needs but to create a comfortable learning environment for all these children, with a proper structure, sustainable creative ideas and a supporting community.
