“Feeding the Hungry.”

“I recently joined a group that gets together every week preparing meals and feeding the homeless on the streets of Kuala Lumpur. The volunteers gather outside the Sikh temple at Jalan Parliament every Friday, under a make shift tent and prepare about 400-450 meals, usually from 7pm onwards.”

“I got the chance to follow this group and had an amazing experience walking the streets of Kuala Lumpur at night and giving packs of food to the homeless and the hungry. The volunteer group of about 15 of them walked the back alleys and main streets of Pasar Raya and Pudu Raya looking for those who needed a meal.”

Deep Singh started this all alone 13 years ago, today he has about 15-20 volunteers consisting of families and friends who come together every week cooking and packing this meals. The cost of food and packing material is all managed via donations.

“Making a difference in todays society doesn’t need to be in a big scale or only via corporations, small differences like this create a bigger impact on humanity and poverty. If each one of us go out there making small differences in groups or as individuals, the ripple effect will create a better generation. It always starts with one single step of change.”
